Protecting Health Care & Fighting Covid-19

Abby knows that comprehensive, affordable healthcare is critical to our families. We must improve health outcomes and empower healthcare professionals during this extraordinary time.

Too many families in Oklahoma are one health emergency away from financial difficulty and two health emergencies away from financial ruin. During her US Senate campaign, Abby listened and fought for families grappling with the unaffordable cost of monthly premiums, the burden of high deductibles, and the challenges in accessing quality care. Abby understands that most Oklahomans know that something is wrong with our healthcare system, and she shares the skepticism that more government is the answer.

Abby believes that every Oklahoman should have access to quality, affordable care, regardless of their circumstances. Abby supported Medicaid expansion, which the people of Oklahoma passed in 2020, and she encourages more of those Oklahoma families who qualify to enroll. No family should have to make the impossible decision of either paying for health care or putting food on the table for their families.

Abby will fight for increased Medicaid reimbursement rates for providers and for the expansion of existing incentive programs to attract and encourage health care professionals to work in rural communities.

Abby supports our frontline healthcare professionals and leaves the medical advice to doctors.

Hospital beds are scarce to come by in four major health systems in OK-5 as Covid cases continue to surge across the state. Abby supports our healthcare professionals’ advice, not the advice of elected leaders making science a political issue. When it’s the government that should be transparent with its citizens, it is the hospitals in Oklahoma right now driving the efforts to be transparent about the Covid surge.

Abby trusts that women are capable of making complex decisions about their own health care without unnecessary interference from lawmakers.

Politicians are passing laws that interfere with a woman's ability to have a private relationship with her own physician, illegally tracking women's medical records, and insisting on scientifically unproven measures or even procedures that do not exist in medical science. Abby will work to ensure that the practice of medicine is left to licensed health professionals, not the government.
