Renewable Energy and Economic Development

It's time to grow our economy in OK-5 by investing more in a clean energy future, while also protecting our existing jobs and our way of life.

OK-5 has been home to innovators and job creators for generations. Take a look at the downtown skyline, and you’ll see the impact of oil and gas on our economy. Abby will fight to protect this vital industry in our state.

But one of Oklahoma’s greatest strengths is its vast resources. We have the opportunity to be a leader in renewable energy as renewables become an even more important power source. Right now, they account for one-eighth of the U.S. energy sector. Abby believes OK-5 can add more jobs to the economy by expanding renewables on scales both large and small, including rooftop solar panels on businesses and homes that can sell power back to the grid.

Oklahomans aren’t just watching more intense wildfires happening across the country on the news; we know as well as anyone the impact of climate change on our daily lives. Whether you’re paying a higher insurance premium due to storm damage or replacing a roof because yours was torn off by a tornado, we know climate change is real and should be addressed.

Stephanie Bice will lodge false attacks accusing Abby of trying to destroy the oil and gas industry in Oklahoma; it’s a line straight out of the radical right playbook. And it certainly isn’t true. But Abby believes that in a growing, innovative environment like OK-5, there’s room to grow our local economy by investing in more alternative energy sources. Additionally, OK-5 can lead the way nationally in the modernization of our country’s electricity grid, making it more efficient and secure.
